Even wondered about living in India and wondered what its like to go shopping for your food… well its different. You rarely go shopping with a list and actually get everything on your list.. we go shopping by seeing what we can get then work out the menu around what was available.
Whenever you see something you buy it, if its something you havent seen before and want again, but 2 or more of it ! The stock situation is weird and rarely will they restock the same item twice. Also be careful to check pasta for weavils, the stores are full of cockroaches and bugs.
Another thing is be careful of the hygiene in the fresh food section, and they do turn off the freezers and refrigeration units at night ! Nasty!!
One thing you have to get use to is the hygiene standards which hasnt really changed with covid. Take this pinpad at the checkout …
The quality of the food is something to be desired.. expect bugs and not much to be really fresh.
What is really annoying when you pay $7 for a avocado , feels fresh but in reality you open it and you find you just cut the head off a worm. Who knew that you could get a work in a Avo!
